Pachys, Vignale Rosso, Vignale Bianco, Donnalucia, and Scialacori are only some of the numerous brands originating from the Bufalefi vineyards. Indeed, it was in this region that the earliest wineries were established, taking advantaged of an almost perfect combination of natural elements, including the calcareous nature of the soil, along with an almost all-year powerful sun and mild winds from both the Ionian and the Mediterranean Sea.
The region is home to other major brands such as the DOC Moscato di Noto - best represented by the Donnalucia label - and the newly made DOC Rosso di Noto. Among the white wines, the Inzolia and Grecanico labels deserve a special mention.
In recent years, the introduction of a number of imported varieties as Cabernet, Syrah, Merlot and Chardonnay were made possible by the use of modern winemaking systems. As a result, some excellent labels were introduced as the 2007 Scialacori, available in both Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties.
